How to protect your 12-word recovery phrase
Your 12-word recovery phrase is the master backup for your wallet. It can restore the wallet and authorize access to every supported network derived from it. Treat it like the key to a vault, not like an app password.
Keep it offline
Write the phrase down accurately and store it somewhere physically secure. Avoid screenshots, cloud notes, email drafts, and chat backups; each can expose the phrase to another person or service.
Recognize scams
Legitimate wallet support never needs your recovery phrase, private key, or PIN. A message claiming that your wallet must be verified, synchronized, upgraded, or rescued is a common scam pattern.

Quick safety checklist
- Do not share the phrase with anyone.
- Do not type it into a website to claim rewards or fix an error.
- Check each word and its order when creating a backup.
- Keep more than one secure offline backup if appropriate.
