How to verify a token before you add or swap it
A token symbol is not a unique identity. Many unrelated tokens can use the same name or symbol. On EVM networks, the contract address is the important identifier; on Solana, verify the token mint address.
Check the official source
Start with the project’s own website and verified social channels. Compare the contract address there with the address shown in your wallet or explorer. Do not rely only on a logo, name, or search result.
Check the network and transaction
The same asset name can exist on different networks as unrelated tokens. Select the intended network first, then verify the complete EVM contract, TRON contract, or Solana mint address and the token decimals.
Before approving a token spending request, read which contract will receive permission and avoid unlimited approvals when a limited approval is available.
Quick safety checklist
- Verify the full contract or Solana mint address from an official source.
- Confirm the selected chain before adding or swapping a token.
- Be cautious of unsolicited airdrops and tokens with unknown links.
- Do not approve a contract you do not understand or trust.
